Back to School Traditions

Each September feels so nostalgic: the weather cools down, leaves begin to change color, and most importantly, kids go back to school. Just like spring brings fresh flowers, fall brings fresh faces. It is a tradition that kids get new outfits and new looks all captured in those iconic school photos. When kids look back on their childhood, they will always remember these traditions.

School Clothes Shopping

Weather you hit up the shopping malls or thrift stores, all kids love to get new outfits before they start up the new school year. One of the most important things to many kids is to fit in, and dressing in a trendy way is the easiest way to do this. A fresh new look gives kids the confidence they need to rock the school year.

School Supplies Shopping

Each teacher sends out a list of all the supplies each student needs for the year. Picking out new folders was always a difficult task. KITTENS OR STARWARS? Choices can be tough. Let’s not even start with back pack colors. Maybe you remember these classic supplies, like Lisa Frank folders!

New haircuts

In preparation for school photos, parents often insist that their kids new haircuts. And if your mom insisted she cut your hair herself.. this tradition may be especially memorable! Hopefully your haircuts didn’t look as bad as these ones!

“Professional” School Photo

So now you have all your new stuff, and you are ready for a photo. But what outfit are you going to wear? Have you seen the hilarious ‘bad school photo’ posts around the web? Check out these photos that went horribly wrong!

First day of School Pictures

As if the ‘professionally’ taken photo isn’t bad enough. You must also sit on the front steps with your backpack as you wait for the bus on the first day of school so you can have your mom or dad take your picture.

A Special ‘Last Dinner of Summer’

Weather you celebrated start of the school year with a grill out, or a heaping pile of meat loaf, most families made a point about having a last meal of summer. Want recipe ideas to start this tradition with your family? Try these!
