Surprising Cities Celebrities Call Home

Celebrities only live in Los Angeles or New York, right? Wrong! CNBC, with the help of Realtor.com, found a list of cities that are growing with celebrity residents. We narrowed it down to five cities that we didn’t know were occupied by so many celebs!

1.  Alpine, NJ

Who would have guessed that the small state of New Jersey would be home to so many celebs?! CNBC reports that Oprah, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Stevie Wonder (and more!) all have homes in Alpine. Set on the banks of the Hudson, the city is popular because of its exclusivity, and proximity to New York (BergenCounty.com).

2. New Orleans, LA

New Orleans is home to more than just jambalaya and beignets. Famous residents include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Harry Connick Jr., and Lil Wayne. CNBC attributes their residency to new tax breaks offered by Louisiana for film and television productions.

3. Atlanta, GA

For us normal folk, buying a home is a pretty big deal and generally the largest investment we’ll ever make. For celebrities, on the other hand, the process of purchasing a home is comparable to how we commoners buy clothes or shoes (i.e., as soon as we outgrow them or basically whenever the mood strikes). In any case, celebrities are willing to frequently shell out quite a bit more than the average Joe to live in comfort and style (and with their massive paychecks, why not?). That means they’re also more inclined to list their homes for a steep price without feeling too much guilt or worrying that it will never sell. While most people could never afford the types of homes that celebrities seem to collect, it can still be fun to look at them from time to time to see how the other half lives. With that being said, here are some of the most expensive celebrity homes on the market this year via cribsuite.com: http://bit.ly/1jO2VSE.
